The "Hole" Story on Planting Shrubs
If you're planning some new shrubbery this spring, now's the time to get to work. Assuming you're using the common bare-root shrubs from a nursery, it's a perfect time to plant them. Here are the basic steps:
- Dig a hole large enough to hold the root
- Pile loose soil in the bottom of the hole and lay the roots into the pile.
- Put soil in the hole and tamp the soil down till the hole is 2/3 filled.
- Fill the hole to the brim with water; once the dirt absorbs that water, finish filling the hole with soil.
- Go rent a movie and wait for it to grow.
